The frequent maintenance shutdowns of alumina plants before the Spring Festival holiday, the closure of medium-sized alumina enterprises in Southwest China, and the sudden policy-related production fluctuations of large alumina enterprises in Northern China all contributed to a drop in the industry’s instantaneous operating capacity to approximately 93.5 million tons. After the Spring Festival holiday, the recovery of alumina production cuts and shutdowns due to maintenance was limited, and the spot supply is expected to remain tight in the short term, providing some support for alumina spot prices.
